Doug SPROCK
Doug Sprock has been creating images of the American West for 25 years. His work has been exhibited around the San Francisco Bay area and more recently the Front Range and the Western Slope of the Rockies. His images have appeared in various publications and he has been a guest speaker for San Jose State University’s photography program, the American Alpine club, and various photography clubs.
Doug especially treasures intimate landscapes discovered off the beaten path. Some images are created near human development and some are created miles from trails–requiring arduous exploration, usually on-foot with a heavy backpack, where success is fleeting. He studies weather, maps, and sun-moon positions, to maximize his chances for success in the field.
Doug’s images are striking at any size. They exhibit strong graphical elements that make for interesting postcard-sized artwork, yet also contain exquisite details provided by exceptional large-format (4×5) camera and printing techniques for 30×40” and larger prints.
